Palm City, FL – March 18, 2026 – Air Burners, Inc., the global leader in air curtain burner technology, today expressed support for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rule to simplify permitting requirements for air curtain burners used in wood and vegetative waste disposal.

The proposal includes two actions, the first of which consolidates four separate Clean Air Act Section 129 rules governing air curtain burners into a single, unified framework and removes Title V operating permit requirements for units processing clean wood waste, yard waste, and clean lumber at non-major sources. Together, these changes reduce administrative complexity and improve access to compliant, on-site disposal solutions.

Air Burners’ air curtain technology enables high-efficiency, on-site combustion of wood and vegetative debris, reducing smoke and particulate emissions by ~97% compared to open burning while achieving 95-98% volume reduction. Air Burners’ equipment helps customers reduce operating costs, improve site safety and minimize environmental impact relative to alternative disposal methods.

“Streamlining the permitting requirements is an important step toward making proven, environmentally responsible technologies more accessible,” said Darin Clause, CEO of Air Burners. “By reducing permitting friction, the EPA is enabling faster adoption of solutions that deliver meaningful environmental and operational cost benefits.”

In addition, the second action of the EPA proposal would make permanent the temporary-use provisions under the Commercial and Industrial Solid Waste Incinerator (CISWI) rules that allow air curtain burners to be readily deployed during declared disaster events. This change provides greater regulatory certainty and ensures that state and local agencies can utilize air curtain burners quickly and compliantly when responding to hurricanes, wildfires, and other emergencies.

“Timely debris removal is critical to protecting communities and enabling recovery after natural disasters,” Clause added. “By providing greater regulatory clarity and certainty, this proposal ensures that air curtain burners can be deployed without delay when communities need them most.”

The proposed rule is open for public comment following its publication in the Federal Register – Air Burners intends to submit formal comments in support.
