"We can reduce our tree waste by 95% in mass from wood to ash. The ash from this process is then added to our top soils as an enrichment to the soil. Nothing is wasted. The enrichment does three things — it holds moisture longer, it saves water, it holds the nutrients we apply for a longer period of time, and it breaks down into natural nitrogen which is good for the topsoil. We're working to always be as efficient as we can — that's our goal."

"Air Burners is the best thing that ever happened to our company as far as what we do. In anything in life, everybody's looking for an edge — a way to get the most out of everything. We were burning 25 gallons an hour on the first grind and 35 gallons an hour on the second grind. Now I burn a gallon and a half an hour tops with the Air Burner. Air Burners burn clean. Neighbors don't even know it's burning. I haven't had any complaints."

"We're not just burying trash and moving on — we're looking at ways that we can change the way things work. The Air Burner takes waste that was previously left to rot in the landfill, burns it, captures the heat, and turns it into electrical energy that goes back to the grid. That process will produce a top quality compost that people can utilize any way they feel free. You're going to see waste become a commodity — utilized in different ways, and a much better way than just putting it into the ground."

"It's virtually a smokeless burning unit once the fire is started and the only thing we add to it is air. It will reduce debris down to 2% of what we put in it. It's bio-friendly. It will create what is called biochar — used out west and in the Midwest for crops and landscapers. This burner is going to reduce our debris in Hampstead and in the surrounding areas."

"ArborWorks cares about slowing the pace of climate change. That is why we are using curtain burners to remove dead wood. The unique air curtain technology traps black carbon emissions, preventing them from entering the atmosphere. When it comes to managing large amounts of organic waste material, air curtain burners are a game changer."

"We've had ours for several years now. What a huge difference it's made and it's amazing to me how little maintenance it's required after several years of constant use. This technology has saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars and provided us with great soil amendment for our nursery."

What's Left Behind

Waste In. Value Out.

Every other disposal method turns green waste into a cost. Air Burners turns it into something useful.

Ash and Biochar Energy

Ash and Biochar

The ash and biochar left behind after burning are natural, nutrient-rich soil amendments. Spread directly on-site, donated to local farms, or collected and sold as a soil amendment. What was 100 tons of woody waste becomes 2 tons of clean, usable material. The CharBoss goes further, producing marketable biochar at scale with a growing commodity value.

Energy

With the Power Series paired to any FireBox, the heat generated during elimination is captured and converted to electricity — on-grid through the PGFireBox, or stored off-grid in the BioCharger’s Battery Storage Module. The waste that used to cost money to dispose of now generates power to run the operation. That’s a fundamental shift in how green waste facilities think about their cost structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does burning wood save landfill airspace?

Burning clean wood reduces its volume by as much as 95-98%. This frees airspace and avoids the hauling and handling costs of managing wood as general waste.

What kinds of wood waste can we process?

Clean wood and vegetative debris, including limbs, brush, whole trees, and stumps. Treated lumber, painted wood, and mixed construction waste should be kept out. A good receiving practice is to separate clean wood at the gate.

How does operating cost compare to grinding?

Compare the fuel and labor of burning against the fuel, maintenance, and wear parts of running a grinder, plus the cost of moving or placing the ground material. Then add the value of the landfill airspace you save.

Because you still collect the tipping fee when wood comes in, burning it on-site doesn’t reduce that revenue. Ask us for a payback estimate based on your volumes.

How fast can a FireBox process wood waste?

Up to 13 tons per hour, depending on the model and material. Tell us your daily volume and we’ll recommend the right size. One operator can run up to three FireBoxes at once if you need more capacity.

Do we need an permit to burn at a landfill or transfer station?

Requirements vary by state, and you’ll typically need approval for your specific site. Landfills and transfer stations are already regulated, so it’s worth talking to your agency early.

We can help you understand what regulators usually ask for.

What do we do with the ash?

At a landfill, the ash can often be used on-site as cover or topper material, which may reduce what you spend on cover soil.
